Pried from his father's backside in West Virginia and subsequently raised Carolina-style, Josh is a multi-faceted third generation artist who regularly rises from the ashes in the valley of the burning bird, Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Hamra is currently exploring his first artistic medium, photography, and rediscovering a passion whose origin lies in the pages of his middle school yearbook. "I was in the 8th grade when I started taking pictures for that year's annual, Visions. Most of the pictures I took were on- the-fly candid shots of the students and faculty during various sporting events and celebrations at the school. I'm sure a lot of them didn't even know their picture had been taken until they saw it in the yearbook." Finding joy in the process from start to finish, he started putting his mother's manual focus Canon AE1 to good use by the end of the school year. Throughout the past three decades Josh has found himself behind the lens of one camera or another, be it for personal discovery and pure enjoyment or self promotion and sales. Now that he is focusing on his craft, Josh feels like he can finally tell all of the stories that he's always wanted to, sometimes without even saying a word. "I always wanted to be the next Cameron Crowe of Hunter S. Thompson's...Get weird and blast off into the ether then come back and write out manuscripts in painstakingly detailed paragraphs formatted correctly using the ELA Handbook. Or I could utilize my abilities, take some excellent photos, and be significantly less wordy when I report back...because every picture tells a story don't it. and each one of those pictures is worth a thousand words."
