I have carried around my desire for artistic expression all my life, but I was never a good painter, musician, sculptor, or writer. At the same time I admire those who can translate what they have in their mind and soul into something accessible to other people.

Imagination and ideas I have for more than a lifetime, but it seemed like I lacked the vehicle, the ability and craftsmanship to transform them into real life. With digital cameras and the means of Lightroom, Nik, and the likes I have finally found my artistic outlet.

It correlates with another passion of mine - the affinity to technical things and good craftsmanship in general. For me digital photography is the perfect combination of art and technology. I find it incomprehensible that it is possible to bring millions of pixels that record just the brightness of red, green and blue light on such a little sensor. I consider this output a raw diamond waiting to be cut with vision and imagination (and some pretty amazing software).

I am still learning and I cannot be thankful enough to my Flickr friends showing me what is possible. They make me humble.

I like to keep up with my Flickr friends and take the time necessary to look at the works they create and comment. I think they deserve it to be properly appreciated! That’s why I keep the number of contacts low as I already spend more time at Flickr than I should.
