Helena is one of my older Flicker friends, all the way back to 2009. As an artist she offers a constant view that displays or eludes to the power and joy of being human in both the physical and emotional senses. Her images remind me how delicate and wonderful people and life can be, something to celebrate. As a friend, well, anyone who really knows her sees her generosity and good nature. These are qualities that she willingly gives with her art & words. And, she wants nothing more than to share with others willing to do the same. My very sweet friend, indeed :)

In your last pictures, I saw a very deep and sensitive glance. ou succeed in offering, in real mean of present, your glance upon the world around you. You have a great way to express yourself through the relatonship you have with people. It is very strong to be able to print that on 'pixels'. About the photographer now. First time I came upon Helena's photostream, I was struck by a special quality. Flickr has many accomplished photographers. Some technically superior, others have great eye for the scene and composition. But what sets apart a photographic artist from a recorder of images is the ability to elicit an emotion from the viewer. Helena captures the life around her. Children, nature, animals, landscapes, people. Everything is familiar, and yet there's more communicated than what meets the eye. The mood, the emotion, the light all evoke a special warm, spiritual quality. You see it in the children's faces, you see it in the the dancer's body position. You see it in the ethereal look of the photos. She is half a world away and we never met, yet I know who she is. When the subjects have this much freedom to be who they are in front of the camera, I know it's the photographer. She sees her surroundings and more importantly she cares.
