A few years ago (I am writing this in June of 2012) I came across some outstanding pictures of covered bridges posted on flickr by a fellow who calls himself Hackleltip, whom I have come to know simply as; "Len". Over the years, I came to know Len not only as an excellent photographer and digital artist, but more significantly as a friend. No, he and I have never met face-to-face but through our mutual interests in photography and I guess you could say, life in general, we have become what I consider, good friends. Len has expanded my horizons in many ways - ways that probably even he doesn't realize. Not only has he been very supportive of my somewhat lame endeavors at being a photographer, he made me feel welcome into the flickr community. I guess our first connection was that of two old military guys sharing a common bond. From there I believe that our friendship has developed into much more. Photography and appreciation of art may be the conduit that links people together but more importantly - much more importantly are the human aspects - things like; strength of character, ethics, morality, honesty and just plain good "horse sense". These are the things that Len excels in. So to Len, I say "Semper Fi" (even though I do not have the right to use this phrase, having been a dog face Army man) and thanks for all your support. Carry on ole buddy.........carry on.
