Flickr keeps asking us to write something ABOUT ourselves. Here goes. I began playing with software (ACDSee) about 20 years ago. I had just retired from teaching and wondered if a novice like myself could make the shift from biochemistry over to creating half-decent digital abstracts. Some of the first ones didn’t look too bad, so I sent a few off to Flickr. And after years of playing around with shapes, colours and textures, over 6000 abstracts have ended up on Flickr (114 on Explore). The process of creating them is interesting, enjoyable and challenging - coming up with titles is also part of the fun. But I must confess that many of the images result from unforeseen digital consequences - rather than being 'created' with specific outcomes in mind, they often arise because of serendipitous accidents. But I always like the end results, even though I have no Idea where my abstracts actually come from. So now you know all about me. I'm just an old guy pretending to be an artist. Cheers. HD

Such beautiful serendipitous "accidents"! These are great!
whatever his modesty and honesty says, he is an artist, and then some. His work is, for me — whether by experiment, intent or accident... doesn't matter — sublimely seen aesthetic that caresses every one of my whatever synapses make me feel good. His stuff just oozes visual, artisan chocolate. So glad he's here :-)
This is art from outer space.
I like very, very much your work. For me you're an artis!! In your gallery there are very suggestive images. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful "accidents"! I would rather admire an unforseen result than despise a purposed creation.

Finally! Now I know exactly how how I create my best images. Thank you Howard "I must confess that the images I generate are usually the result of unforeseen digital consequences. Rather than being 'created' with specific outcomes in mind, my humble abstracts are almost always discovered through serendipitous accidents, in a process that's akin to merely playing around with shapes, colours and textures. Occasionally an image pleases my mind and ends up on Flickr. I'm not an artist producing artwork. What is art, anyway?"
