Having an Icelandic passport means that you are welcome in almost any country you choose. It is a privilege that some take for granted, others do not. Many people that choose to live in a country other than the country they were born in do not adapt well, others do their utmost. Gurrý has chosen to live far away from her roots; she has chosen to learn the ropes were she is now but at the same time hold on to the ropes from home so to speak. She takes advantage of the good things this brings and tackles the problems that come along when being so far away from home. She certainly takes nothing for granted and does her best in any situation. Her pictures tell us this story from one day to the other, from one country to the other. On her DPC profile she quotes Ansel Adams who said that twelve significant photos in any year is a good crop. In my opinion, Gurry captures at least twelve every year. And this she does with out a whole bunch of gadgets. She has her Nikon D70, the kit lens and the SB800. With this minimal gear she works absolute wonders and it is a pleasure and a privilege to stand on the sideline and watch.
