Since most of my uploads are about cycling, my quick bio: built up my first bike from a frame when I was 15, worked at a few LBS's in my early 20's in the SF Bay Area (Orinda Spoke and Pedal, Diablo Bike in Walnut Creek, First Tri in Berkeley), then was a sales rep for 3 years (KHS, Veltec-Boyer, Puma). Several bike camping trips down the Pacific Coast, then a long hiatus while I went back to school to complete my Mechanical Engineering degree (SF State, 1991). Retired from semiconductors after a few decades (Applied Materials, Intel, Lam Research). Started bike commuting to get back into riding shape, caught the vintage collecting bug and 650b-itis. My first big purchase was a Peter Weigle-ized '73 Raleigh Competition. Moved to Portland in 2014, took the UBI framebuilding course, but I mostly do 650b conversions, custom racks and decaleurs, and frame repairs. Most every dime I make doing that gets ploughed back into tools.
My wife and I have twins that were born in 2002. Watching them grow up to be strong, independent young adults has been a joy. That and I get more time to spend one on one with my wife nowadays!
