Drag to set position!
I have been around a lot and like taking photos to remind me of places I have been and things I have seen.
Or put another way: Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, Sandton, Kroonstad, Gwelo, Wankie, Auckland, Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula, Benalla, Caloundra, Darwin, Brisbane, Gold Coast..... It's been some ride, but I think that this African Gypsy has finally found a home in South-Eastern Queensland and is using it as a base for further exploration.
My photographic journey started way back in the early 1960s, when my grandmother gave me a Kodak 127 "Brownie" for my sixth birthday. A Kodak Instamatic 33 saw me through my teenage years and early 20s until I bought my first SLR camera, an Olympus OM-2N, in late 1980. From then on, I have always had a camera with me wherever I have gone, with the exception of military call-ups, where we were threatened with "fire and brimstone" if we were found to have cameras with us.
I bought my first DSLR camera, an Olympus E-300, in late 2005 and have upgraded every few years. I currently use an OM System (Olympus) OM-1 for most of my photography. I agree with the old adage that "A better camera won't make you a better photographer.", but would like to add that "A better camera sure helps me get better results."
My journey into bird photography has been fairly recent and has been helped by the OM-1's amazing subject recognition capability. As I advance through my "twilight years", I am still having lots of fun in photography.
I appreciate it when people leave the EXIF information intact and visible in their Flickr images. That gives others the opportunity to learn. To that end, I leave the EXIF information intact on my photos which I post on Flickr. I may delete location information from EXIF if there is a reason to keep the location secret.
