I am rey

I live in the highlands of scotland on the isle of skye.

I come from a fine art background

and have found myself swapping paints and brushes

for dyes, carders and fibres over the the past 10 years

I have found particular enjoyment in the passing on of my yarns,

the sense of being at the mere start of something

the knowledge of them going off (sometimes across the world) to transform in the hands of another into some treasured gift for a loved one...Thats magic.

I am busy busy bee spinning away to bring you more yarns. but this is a slow process that will not be rushed.

Each skein is the result of many dyeings and cardings to achieve the unique hues and textures that make them sing.

Each skein is a painting steeped in the experience of my breathtaking surroundings. An essential part of my process is to walk daily with my faithful hound through the landscape and just let it all soak in.

When i get back to my carders, I work intuitively with no preconception ,there is always a sense of excitement. If it were to stop being so, I would move on to another form of expression. In the mean time i will be bringing skeins and knitwear to you via my shop on etsy as and when they are made, and if you would like to take alook at my shop visit
