I developed my love of photography from my father, who also loved to take photographs. Having grown up in northern California, my family would take summer vacations in the mountains, including Yosemite once a year. Yosemite was the place that inspired me to take my father's camera and start playing. One day I will learn how to take proper photos and will get a nice SLR camera, but for now I'm having fun with my simple point-and-shoot.
I love how Flickr has sort of freed me in a way. I tend to be a bit of a collector, but I don't really want to keep the stuff. I'm tired of having STUFF (mostly for the kitchen/dining)... it's cumbersome! So I've photographed my stuff, posted them on Flickr and have gotten rid of a lot of it (gifted or donated, sold a few). Having the pictures is like still having them, even though I don't physically have them anymore. The photos are a nice souvenir... I can still look at them and enjoy them whenever I want.
I enjoy really interesting, unique and good designs, especially from the mid-century era... I no longer need to collect those items because there's so much to enjoy by clicking around in Flickr. But I still have a lot of kitchenware and I enjoy photographing food on beautiful or interesting dishes. Some of my stuff is available for trade.
I administer the group Pyrex in Action. I love to cook and bake in my vintage Pyrex because it makes cooking and preparing so much more fun.
