I got my first DSLR in 2006. It replaced a Canon PowerShot Pro90 IS. I wasn't much of a film photographer, mostly snapshots on trips and photos of friends. Now I shoot so much that I've worn out the shutter on a Rebel and 50d over the past few years.

I like to shoot landscapes, cityscapes, and nature subjects. I often shoot bracketed exposures and use hdr or composite layers to bring out the best sky and foreground color and detail. For nature, I like to shoot birds and macro subjects.

I joined the Greater Lynn Photographic Association in 2007 where I started competing and found the judging and seeing the work of others has helped me learn to be a better photographer, as have my flickr contacts' comments (several of whom are also in the club):
