Historian, bibliophile, antiquarian. History nerd. Interested in Lancaster County farms and historic architecture. Fan of Mennonite and Amish history. Enthusiast of Pennsylvania German folk culture.

I first became interested in photography as a student at Lancaster Mennonite High School in the early 1970s. During that time I had a photography darkroom in my parents' fruit cellar. My Beseler enlarger was surrounded by shelves filled with jars of peaches and applesauce.

I enjoy trying to capture photos that showcase the colorful drama of Lancaster County. I look for images that reflect our county's unique history.

Most of my known ancestors were Amish, including my grandparents.. My parents left the Amish as teenagers, and joined the Mennonites. So my DNA is closely bonded to this community.
