I have been an avid macro-photographer ever since I acquired my first SLR, and continue to hone those skills. My techniques and equipment are pretty old school, I continue to use macro lenses which I purchased years before the digital revolution, and in many respects, the majority of my images are taken using techniques which would have been familiar to photographers 50 or more years ago. I utilize multiple flash units to provide a softer, but very bright light, enabling me to stop down to provide a greater depth of field.

In my most recent macro work , I frequently l utilize double lens reverse macro techniques and focus stacking software to extend the range, magnification, and depth of field in my macro images: I am now able to produce the macro images that I wanted to make when I first took up a camera many years ago.

I am a longtime enthusiast of cacti and other succulents, but my interest in growing plants is much broader, and has encompassed a huge variety of plants. In my most recent photography, plants factor very heavily, but my work includes landscapes, travel photography, and wildlife.
