Fellow travellers,

I really love to travel. But you can only visit so many places in your lifetime, what with your everyday life and all.

However, I wanna see it all and so I started thinking about how to circumvent the limitations of physical travel.

After a while, the obvious solution came to me, why not let my camera do the travelling for me, recording stuff wherever it goes?

Said and done, this Flickr photostream will thus record the adventures of my camera as it travels around the far corners of the globe.

But who will take the photos then, since I won't keep it company on its voyage?

Here's my plan: I'll send my camera off to a friend abroad, including a short description outlining the loose goals of this project along with some hands-on instructions on how to upload to this photostream. Then, when he/she has taken and uploaded at least one photo, this friend should then send the camera + aforementioned instructions on its way, to a recepient of his/her choice.

That's it, really. Where the camera goes from there will be completely up to the person currently with the camera in his/her possession.

Hopefully, my camera will get some serious frequent flyer miles and get to see and document loads of fun, interesting, boring, happy, sad, beautiful or ugly things. With any luck, we'll all get to share my camera's adventures here as they unfold.

I don't know about you, but I really look forward to seeing where this "pass it forward" will take us!

FAQ:

Q - Aren't you afraid your camera will get stolen?

A - Not really, as long as the current 'holder' takes and uploads photos and eventually when tired of the camera, sends it on its way.

Q - How will you get your camera back?

A - Hopefully I won't. My goal is for "my" camera (frankly, the minute my camera leaves my home I will stop considering it to be "mine") to travel as far and extensively as possible, taking me along by means of uploading to this photostream. Showing me the world sort of.

Q - When will you send the camera to its first destination?

A - On saturday, 2009-12-12! First destination is a secret and will possibly be revealed when the first upload occurs.

Q - what kind of photos are you after?

A - I have no preferences whatsoever, I'll take whatever is uploaded here (for obvious reasons, I will of course reserve the ultimate right to delete an entry, however this right will be used extremely sparingly, if ever).

Q - How do I get the camera sent to me so that I can participate in this?

A - that will be COMPLETELY up to the current holder of the camera. One way of letting someone know you're interested could be to leave comments on the last uploaded photo.

That's it, stay tuned for some unexpected glimpses of the world!

Finally, a few words to you who receive this camera: have fun with it, share your photos here and send the camera to someone else, anywhere in the world. Or just next door. Your choice!
