I am blessed to live in a small southern Ohio town with husband, Jim, who shares my love for the wildlife & nature surrounding us. Blessed with 4 amazing daughters, successful sons-in-law, and beautiful grandchildren who light up my life.

I began viewing flickr in '06 enjoying the photos captured by friends, Doris and Jaki. I thought flickr was just for professional photographers so never thought about joining the site. The only photography I'd done was the usual family and vacation snapshots, and mostly with film. What did get me started in '07 was the desire to comment on one of Doris' images. Found out quickly that you had to join to comment. I wanted to ID the bee she posted (hence my flickr name), so now I'm a flickr'ite, as well. The worrying started soon after- what if someone visits my photostream, and I have no images? The first upload was a silly one of my daughter, Anita, and grandson, Evan. I didn't want to have just 1 photo on the site, so began practicing in the yard with macro shots. From that moment on--I've been hooked!

My 2nd camera was a Canon PowerShot SX100IS with a better zoom to capture the birds and wildlife. It is a point and shoot, but with manual functions, as well. A great camera to learn on, and I had a lot to learn. I bought my 1st SLR (Rebel XSI) in January 2009, and my interest skyrocketed. My husband, Jim, is the real expert, and a great teacher of photography basics. Sometimes wanting to teach me much more than I could absorb all at once! One step at a time, I say. I'm still with Canon, and the equipment changes as my passions change. Wildlife photos remain my first love, but landscapes are becoming a close second. My family, especially the grandchildren, are pure joy to capture, as well. I shoot mostly in raw format, and have learned a lot about non destructive editing. Always a new technique to learn, though, so keeps me on my toes.

I've made wonderful friends through flickr, and learned a lot about the world around me. Limited time to play does force me to keep my contacts at a logical number. I initially tried to keep up with posting in awarded groups, and awarding, but had to make a choice between that and my contacts. My contacts won out easily, and I comment first on those who regularly comment on my photos, and as time allows--on others. There have been some down time over the years for various reasons. I do try to catch up by browsing your photostreams, even though I can't always comment on every upload. I don't expect anyone to feel obligated to comment on everything I upload either, although the comments and faves are always appreciated. Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions while visiting my photostream, and I look forward to seeing your visual diaries, as well.

If you're interested in purchasing any of my photos, please send a flickr email, and I'll post the image on my website, "Down Songbird Lane" with link listed above right.

See you all on flickr.

She is a faithful contact who gives such wonderful encouragement and praise. I'm glad to be one her contacts that won out over all those award and be awarded groups. Thanks Glenda.

Glenda is one of my earliest contacts, and is definately one of my best flickr friends. She is just the nicest person I've met on flickr, which is saying a lot, because there are soooo many wonderful people on flickr! Viewing her pictures, is like reading Brer Rabbit! Her animal pictures are so precious and her humor is quick, that it always makes me chuckle! If you haven't read Brer Rabbit, do so...and you will see exactly what I mean.

Glenda is usually one of the first with kind remarks on my pictures, which is always good for morale. Her own photographs are technically and artistically competent, and provide an entertaining and educational documentary on the varied wildlife with which she shares her home and garden. Thanks Glenda.

Glenda, as well as being a superb photographer, is extremely generous in her praise of others. Her photos are beautifully detailed and for someone on the opposite side of the globe, a real eye opener.

I'm constantly amazed and inspired by Glenda's pictures; she's created some of the most astounding macros I've seen and has an excellent photographer's perspective and eye for what's most pleasing and exceptional about the world we all too often take for granted. She's definitely broadening my own capacity for appreciating, both photographically and emotionally, the uniqueness and beauty of all kinds of life surrounding me every day.
