Paul Hyde says:

Nice to meet you today at Summer Leys. I've perused some of your photos, they certainly have the wow factor. It's the standard I'll be aiming for as I'm still a relative beginner.

David is not only a great photographer but also a good friend who is more than willing to share his knowledge and give advice when asked. He is an expert at identifying fish as well! Thanks for all your assistance over the past few years :-)

Obviously, I am a huge fan of “gillybooze,” and for good reason. First, he is an artist—he has an artist’s eye for composition and color and his ability to see and emphasize detail is amazing. Obviously, I am a huge fan of “gillybooze,” and for good reason. First, he is an artist—he has an artist’s eye for composition and color and his ability to see and emphasize detail is amazing. His photographs always leave the viewer with a sense of satisfaction—nothing is missing or out of place. Everything is as it should be. But perhaps more importantly, “gillybooze,” is a kind and supportive person. His powers of observation extend to people, as well as photographic subjects. When I have felt the most dissatisfied with my efforts and my work, he has always said the perfect thing to raise my spirits and get me back to being a photographer. That is a talent in itself and one I often wish I had. Finally, he also has a great sense of humor, about himself and about the world he lives in. He is a joy to know and it is a joy to be counted his friend.

In both field, he is always the first to give help and advices. His warm comments on your own pictures, while uploading high quality photographs of his own, are aimed to make you a better photographer or just reward a good job. At the same time he has a great artistic taste and a reliable judgement, so it was expected! Many thanks my friend for dragging me into Flickr and photography! May you have good weather and camera on those trip of yours! I wish to see many more of yours pics. Enjoy diving into his photographs!

When I met Gillybooze he was preparing his underwater camerahousing which caught my attention. Since that year we have been diving together, he got me enthusiastic about underwater photography and taught me all his tricks about diving and photography. We now have some kind of a "competition" going on about which one of us makes the most beautiful photo's, beit underwater, flowers, butterflies or whatever else is interesting. But we always admire eachother's achievements with Oooh's and Aaaah's and share the experience when trying out something new. I really enjoy the photography, the diving, the chatting and the company of Gillybooze and wish for many more years to come!
