In the Mountains: A Reply to the Vulgar

I'm an opportunistic amateur, sandwiching my photography between a demanding career and the joys and challenges of parenting two wonderful kids.

I shoot with a Nikon D300 and an assortment of lenses, am too lazy about cleaning my sensor, and love real-world prints. I like low dof, no dof, blurs, lensbabies, b&w, colors, the organic beauty of flowers, the precision of architecture, and the beauty of nature. Not to mention the daily moments of my kids' lives (not available here on Flickr).

To claim "influences" would imply too much about my degree of "artistness," but I am a big fan of Galen Rowell, John Sexton, Dale Chihuly, James Rosenquist, Craig Tanner and Mark Johnson of the old Radiant Vista, Miles Davis, Dave Black, Freeman Patterson, Bill Atkinson, Li Po, Todd Owyoung's macros , Tony Sweet, Steve McCurry, David Doubilet, Huy Nguyen, David "Strobist" Hobby, and numerous Flickerati (see my favorites).
