You know what, it's time to update my profile. I'm not a rank amatuer anymore. I guess I would describe myself as a serious hobbyist. I dig hiking and nature photography, but I have a soft spot for children as well. That's probably because I have about a thousand nieces, each one cuter than the last one. I find people photography challenging; I love experimenting with light, filters and angles. I shoot Canon but believe that photography is really about having a good time and making the image that you have in your head.
Hike on! Don't forget your tripod.
f/8 and be there!

Gary, you make me homesick for Yellowstone almost on a daily basis, and that's not a bad thing. Your photos of the park are gorgeous, and carry a lot of meaning because YNP is such a special place for me. It's been a real pleasure knowing you, and looking at your work (your non-Yellowstone stuff ain't half bad either… Read more

Over the last few years, Gary has been a huge help to me as I attempt to learn more about photography. He's never too busy to answer a question or respond to one of my e-mails, and trust me, I ask some pretty stupid questions. I've known Gary for a few years through another chat board, and I look forward to the day when I can actually meet him face to face. Although we live on separate sides of the country, we share a love for Yellowstone National Park, so I'm sure I will eventually have that honor. Gary's photography speaks for itself. I've watched as his skill has improved with each passing year. Heck, with each passing trip he takes! It's always a joy to see new photos posted from him (yes, even if it's just bubbling hot water, aka geysers. Ha!). Every once in a while, I hear him grumbling about a "new camera", but with the beautiful images he produces with his Canon Rebel, there's little need. He's capable of capturing true beauty with that little camera of his.

Geyser Gary is a super nice guy (either that or he's a darn good actor) and even if your photo sucks he'll still say nice things (I jest). Gary has a great adventurous spirit and has been to some very remote areas, backpacking with his camera, and always comes back with some wonderful images. Gary will be hiking the John Muir Trail this summer and I am VERY eager to see his images from this beautiful 221 hike along the Sierra crest. Gary knows what makes a good image and he comes away with fantastic shots from wherever he visits. His shots of the northwest waterfalls, Yellowstone geysers, and the Oregon coast are superb. Even his occasional blurry duck shots are nice. :^D Oh, just kidding, Gary. Keep on with the adventurous spirit, the kind heart, and the fantastic images!

Geyser Gary is one of the best friends a person could have. The guy has a love for life that becomes apparent within just a few minutes spent in conversation with him. His love for life is manifested here on Flickr with his photography. Its been a joy to watch Gary's photographic skill and accomplishments grow with each passing year. Its obvious that he really knows how to have fun with photography. Just take a look at his pics. The wife and I visited Gary last summer and joined him in a little nature photography. It was one of the best times both of us have ever had. I feel fortunate to call Gary a friend. One look and you're hooked® Teewinot

He truly enjoys learning, and photography is no exception. Like Hoot1 said, it's been a joy to see Gary improve the quality of his photographic work over the last couple of years. Now if I could only figure out a way to get out to Oregon to spend a few days around him. That would have to be, like totally fun. Over and out©, Bubba Mediocrates
