Gerard Wozek is the author of "Postcards from Heartthrob Town," a collection of short stories selected and edited by Michael Luongo for the Gay Travel Literature Series, "Out in the World," published by Southern Tier Editions/Haworth Press in 2007. His poems have also appeared in numerous anthologies including: Gents, Bad Boys and Barbarians: New Gay Male Poetry, Reclaiming the Heartland, Queer Dog, Bend Don't Shatter: Poets on the Beginning of Desire and Poetic Voices Without Borders Volume 1 and 2. His verse play, "The Changeling's Exile" which premiered in Chicago at Lionheart Theatre, was later published as a limited edition chapbook (Deep Wood Press, 2010). His manuscript "Dervish" won first place in the Second Annual Gival Press Poetry Award Competition and was published in October of 2001. The book received a Violet Crown Special Citation from the Writer's League of Texas and Barnes and Noble Booksellers. His poetry has been featured in nearly a dozen videos which have been screened at festivals and competitions throughout the world. In collaboration with visual artist and filmmaker Mary Russell, the poetry video "Dance of the Electric Moccasins" won the 2005 First Place Potenza Film Festival Video Poetry Award. In addition, "Elemental Reels" won the "Most Innovative Video Award" at the Edgewise Poetry Video Festival in Vancouver, B.C. in 2001, and the travel narrative, "A Bird in Hand: 13 Postcards from Paris" won "The Vision Award for Best Direction in a Video" also at the Edgewise Festival in 2002. He teaches writing and the humanities for the College of Liberal Arts at Robert Morris University Illinois in Chicago.
