Welcome to my Photostream, nice you took some time to stop by

I am an amateur photographer I started with photography already in the 1960ies. First with my mom's camera, which however wasn't very good and most photos came out blurred, due to motion. Probably too long exposure.

My first own camera was a box camera that I found in our attic in our house. I got acquainted with it and took my first B/W pictures with it. Most of them came out OK, and even better than with my mother's compact camera. Here are two pictures from that epoch.

In 1968 I bought a Minolta SLR Camera with a 55mm lens, with which I used on and off up until 2001. I also had a Zoom Lens 35 – 200mm which was quite an improvement over the fixed lens of 55mm.

In 2001 I purchased my first digital camera, a Kyocera Finecam F3 3 Mega Pixel camera. Some photos from this camera can be seen in my stream. Here is one picture from that epoch.

My next camera was a Kodak Z740, which I got in 2006. This year I purchased an Canon IXUS Wireless camera, as I wanted to do some Timelapse Videos with it, however it turned out that the remote capture function is not stable enough to run over several hours. Nevertheless I managed to get some nice Timelapses with it. I still use it as my standard camera for P & S, as it is very handy to take along with.

With those cameras I have made several thousands of photos, from which only a small fraction is posted here, i.e. those that I considered worthy. Sometimes I also upload from previous times, even scanned photos from the pre-digital era.

I have a knack for re-photography, (Re-Photography is the action of taking a picture from the exact same spot a previous one was taken and create dyptichs or merges from them) which started when I discovered an old engraving of my hometown. I wanted to re-photo from that same location to make a comparison, this was in the 1990ies. I tried a few times but it was a complete failure since with film, re-photography is a sheer impossible task. So when Digital Photography was advanced enough and postproduction a possibility my attempts at re-photography started to succeed and one of my Then and Now merges was even published in a local Newspaper in Oct 2006:
