ENLARGEMENTS MADE UPON REQUEST

I love traveling the American West, photographing its vast landscape and people. I grew up in Port Chester, New York, but have lived in New Mexico since 1965, following a U.S. Army assignment at Seoul, South Korea. After 33 years at Kirtland AFB, in Albuquerque, as a civilian Public Affairs Director for the Air Force, I retired in 1997 and began a quest to learn the art of photography in the digital age. I currently manage marketing and public relations for Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers in Albuquerque.

I won a first place award in the 2010 New Mexico Magazine Photo Contest. In 2010 I was named a finalist for the 2010 "Photographers Forum" Magazine photo contest. I was also a finalist in 2009, when one of my prints was included in the magazine's annual hardcover publication.

One of my prints, "Sedona Morning", was chosen in a juried competition exhibited at the first New Mexico Photographic Art Show (ANMPAS) at the NM State Fairgrounds in December 2009. Prints were also chosen for the ANMPAS 2010, 2011,2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2017 exhibitions.

Other honors include five of my photographs being selected for exhibit at the 2007 Calgary International Photo Exposition, being named a finalist for the 2005 Kodak-National Park Service Photo Contest, and as a prize winner in the 2004 and 2005 “New Mexico Magazine” Photo Contests. My prints have been exhibited three times at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History Gallery, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra Gallery, the Anderson Gallery, the Fisher Gallery, New Mexico Art League Gallery, the New Mexico Arts Alliance Gallery, and the Harwood Gallery, all in Albuquerque. A photograph of the Sandia Mountains in autumn was one of 30 selected for Albuquerque’s first digital billboard series, seen on 8 billboards throughout Albuquerque. My prints were also shown at the Art Gallery 66 in Bernalillo, New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Public Library gave me a one-man showing of 16 photographs in January 2009. The library also gave me a showing of 20 photos in September 2010. I was named the Artist of the Month at the High Desert Art & Frame Gallery in Albuquerque in January 2012, with 15 of my photographs displayed. I've had one-man shows at High Desert Gallery two other times since then.

I had a one man show of eight of my photos at Albuquerque's North Valley Library in March 2012. I am a member of the Enchanted Lens Camera Club of Albuquerque. Being a career public affairs executive, I also dabble in creative writing. As a side note, I recently was awarded the 2012 Steve Schiff Kirtland AFB Advocacy Award from the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce. I am also on the Board of Directors of the Kirtland Partnership Committee.

I currently have two cameras, both Canons – the Canon xti (D-400), and the Digital Rebel T2i and assorted lenses. I am married to the former Bernadette Gutierrez of Albuquerque. We have three children, currently scattered around the globe – Los Alamos, Karlstadt, Germany, and Phoenix, Arizona -- four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
