I'm an avid photographer who frequents the Columbia River Gorge for windsurfing, road biking, camping, hiking and photography so often that my friends started calling me "George of the Gorge". I'm happy with that moniker as it's an indirect reference to my favorite Jungle star of TV and film.

My photography is eclectic but leans toward nature with a preference for landscapes and mammals.

I feel that titles and captions are important. I make the effort to create informative and amusing titles and captions. Your pleasure and understanding of images will increase if you read the titles and captions as well as the image.

I love the printed image. I love looking up from whatever I'm doing and seeing a favorite image. My walls are filled with prints that we often rotate with the seasons. The smallest prints are 8x10's the largest 17x25's all printed on an Epson 3800.

Because I print, I calibrate my monitor brightness to 90 cd/m^2 so that my prints match the screen. Most monitors are set too bright for standard room illumination and photos appear either washed out when viewed or too dark when printed. The brightness on my 6 lcd's are set in the range of 15-25% depending on the model and platform - Windows, Mac and Linux. If you guessed that I create software on multiple platforms, you'd be right :) If my images appear washed out, you might want to decrease your monitor brightness.

My images are sized for 4K displays at 4096x4096, so be sure to view images with the Lightbox (type 'L' when viewing) for maximum detail.

I strive for images that are a pleasure to view - images that please me and images that please viewers. Of course, I don't know what pleases viewers unless they favorite or comment on images. Please help by commenting.

Since many or even most images in my photostream are experiments, your comments and favorites are especially important in helping me learn which images work and which don't.

Please feel free to comment openly on my images. Any constructive critique is welcome!
