I've always had a love of photography since the ownership of a 5/- Woolworth camera, given to me at the age of 6 by my father. Moving through several cameras and a growing love of the medium led to a career as a professional photographer lasting 40 years

I'll photograph anything interesting but prefer transport and heritage built environment. I really enjoy looking at other photographers work, the quirkier the better. My hobbies are photography, watercolour painting, old motorcycles and walking (the last 2 not unconnected) I have always lived in Birmingham apart from 2 years in Quarry Bank, near Dudley. I am proud to be a Brummie!

In 1994 I co-inherited the photographic collection of Peter Shoesmith with my friend John Whitehouse. Sorting that collection is ongoing

I find it hard to believe that nobody has written about this gentleman and wonderful photographer. Mr Dowling is a master at his work and treats us to many wonderful shots from days long gone that have been taken by others who are long gone, and where he has worked his magic to allow us to see some sensational shots. He carries out much research to allow those who look in to have the required information about the subject to hand. On top of that he takes time , and much effort, to give us modern images that he has been able to capture, many with a little added humour. Not forgetting his love of classic motor cycles either. Thank you for all your hard work.
