I'm a fine art landscape, nature photographer from Seattle, Washington, my hometown. I've been shooting since I was a kid. I started a photography business proper in 2006 so I could sell prints at art shows, festivals, in stores, online, and license image rights for publication, which has helped me recoup some of the expenses required to travel and photograph. Over the years I have spent a crazy amount of time and effort pursuing my passion and indulging in my OCD. I'm happy to have won awards I'm proud of and received kind words from some of the photographers I have admired over the years. My photographs have appeared in National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Sunset, Time and other publications and mediums worldwide. My primary goal is to produce a stunning big print for framed display. While I like to present my images on the web, my processing workflow is more optimized for what I've found works best for printing with my preferred paper and inks.

I try to capture beautiful locations composed in my own way, always with attention to unsettled weather, fantastic light and atmosphere. I'll spend days, weeks, even years trying to capture my previsualization of a special place. I'm drawn mostly to the western US and Canada, and have a particular attraction to Korea; I spent a lot of time there many years ago and return frequently.

Among the great photographers that have influenced me most early on were Timothy O'Sullivan, William Henry Jackson, Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter. Galen Rowell and David Muench showed me how to work to attain a previsualized result and compose dynamically. Art Wolfe and Pat O'Hara inspired me to explore the subject matter of my own Northwest backyard. I highly recommend searching the book and thrift stores for their stunning "coffee-table" books. My bookshelves are loaded with them.

I have the unintended distinction of having many of my images appear without my authorization in countries all over the world. That said, I hold the exclusive copyright to all of my images. You need to contact me to license the rights or otherwise use any of my work for commercial purposes. I usually don't have a problem if your use is educational or for a cause I believe in, but please do me the consideration of asking permission first and attributing the work to me. I'm a reasonable guy, but I've been burned plenty. This absolutely includes harvesting any part of my images for new AI or CG products.

Thanks for looking, and I hope you find some inspiration for your own vision here. I hope you'll understand and take no offense that I don't engage much in trying to increase my social media views by posting in numerous groups and trading favorites. If you drop me a comment or two, it's always appreciated, and I always try to respond timely to kind folks who reach out to me respectfully.
