I'm Canadian and reside in Beijing. I love and hate China: love it 'cause there's so many fantastic places to travel to; so many pictures to take, so many things that make me laugh; so many fireworks; so many people to chat with, so many friends to make, and so many opportunities.... I hate it 'cause it's a cruel and unjust place for too many people (I'm not one of the unfortunate, obviously); the pollution is terrible; nationalism is a bit out of control; the press is gagged, and so on and so forth... But with all that said, China is still the new economic, political (debatable), cultural, artistic, you-name-it frontier, and I want to be a part of it.

I love Japan too, especially, Tokyo (shimokitazawa, harajuku, shinjuku, Odaiba, Ikebukuro, Roppongi Hills and my old 'hood, Asaka! are the favourite spots). Japan and China are diametrically opposed in almost every way, and I'm torn between them. I visit Japan a couple of times a year (whenever I get a vacation, and sometimes for a weekend).

I love reading the authors that I've listed below; love reading, period; love looking at/taking photos; traveling (especially by train or boat); love watching war movies, love goofing off; love my dog, Pugsley; love skateboarding (been at it for 14 years); love chatting with war vets; love telling/hearing stories; love imitating the way Tokyo train conductors talk, love getting a good deal; love hiking on the Great Wall, LOVE my Lola, so on and so forth...

我来自加拿大，目前住在北京。 我不怕坦白地这么说：我一边爱一边恨中国。 一边 爱是因为在本国旅行是挺丰富的；好多照片可以拍；好多东西，事情，和人让我笑； 春节可以放很多炮； 好多朋友也以找；好多机会可以抓，等等。。。。 一边恨是因为 太多本国人民的生活不但辛苦而是不公平的；污染严重，烦死我喽！；民族主义的概念有点儿过分；新闻的自由几乎没有；等等。虽然如此，我知道目前在经济，政治（可争议的）文化，艺术，这些方面上中国的变化就是 全球最快最深的， 所以我要参与。。。

我也爱日本，尤其是东京。我每年几次到日本去玩儿，旅游 和看朋友。。。 尽管日本离中国很近，两位国家的况状和文化一点儿都不同。不知道我为什么那么爱这两位国家，而且说不出来哪个是爱更多的哦！

我特别喜欢看下边写的那些作家的书；阅读就是给我带来巨大的乐趣； 我也爱看/拍照片；爱旅游（尤其是坐火车或船）； 爱看战争类型的电影； 爱玩儿；爱我小够 （称呼喷嚏，是巴哥品种）；爱玩儿滑板 （已玩儿13多年了）； 爱跟老兵聊天儿；爱讲述/听故事； 爱模仿东京地铁列车长的说话 （奇怪但特别好玩儿，真的！）；爱讲价；爱爬长城，爱我女朋友，等等。。。
