The collections here are mostly pictures I took in China, Taiwan and Japan many years ago, starting in 1978. In the late 70's, I was studying Chinese in Taiwan and during that time, I had the opportunity to visit China (Guangzhou) twice for short visits. Later in 1985 and 1989, I visited China again. Each time I had my trusty Pentax K-1000 with me, using it to take pictures of anything that interested me...
In early 2007, I began to scan the negatives, prints and slides from those trips and post them on flickr. For those of you interested in what things looked like back then, welcome!
More recently, I have been having digital fun with a Nikon D80. In June 2007, I had the chance to return to HK and Japan on business, and take more than a few pictures of places that I first discovered almost 30 years ago.

Today I relived part of my childhood through Gedawei 葛大为. I was 9 years when he took those photos in HK. I was also familiar with Beijing during the late 1980's and early 1990's. Thank you very much!!!!

His candid photos, especially those of China in the late 70s’, will serve as important archives for historians, and a story book for generations to come.
