Now, serious stuff:

Why are there so many photos of smokers and drunk people?

My smoking project Flashes to Ashes is now complete and in book form (£18 in UK includes postage, available on request).

During the project smokers kept asking me if they could have a copy of the photograph, which I was happy to oblige, but it quickly became obvious that giving them a link to flickr was easier than taking down their email and sending it to them.

It was also obvious that taking a picture of drunks (not necessarily smoking) and posting the photo on flickr was easier than syaing 'no' and explaining why I only wanted photographs of people smoking.

If you posed for one of my smoking photographs - thank you very much. Click on 'photos' (above) and you should find yourself somewhere.

About me and my photographs.

From Gateshead to Egypt via London and Lancashire.

These photographs are a mixture of family snapshots and landscapes and buildings - though there is now a heavy presence of smoking photographs (as already mentioned).

Now available on this flickr account – and on my website and iTunes – is the Love Town photography podcast.

About flickr.

On flickr you'll find it is not your favourite photos which turn out to be the most popular with the viewers.

Your most viewed will be lacking in artistic merit or showing a bit of flesh or, ideally, both. Simply, it's the stupid, silly titillating or gay interest photos which people want to look at.

Even in my smoking set it's the photographs of young Through doing this project I have found that there are lot of men who have a fetish for women smoking and some people enjoy looking at their own photograph several times a day. And why not.

Al lot of the smoking photographs here are brash snap shots. It's the nature of the business when you're dealing with terminal inebriation.

Happy viewing.
