Basu Gautam is a dynamic and creative individual with over 20 years of professional experience working in various countries, including the United States and Finland. He was born and raised in Bhairahawa, Nepal, and has worked in Nepal in several roles, including as a National Program Coordinator for Demo Finland's "Youth Project," a National Consultant for the United Nations Development Program's "Peace Building and Recovery Unit," a National Consultant for the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), a Research Advisor for Princeton University's "Innovation for Successful Societies" program, a National Consultant for Nepal Innovation Lab (NLab), and a National Advisor for SocDem Asia.
As the Founder and President of the Lumbini World Peace Forum since 2015, Gautam has also been a promoter of peace and social justice through creativity, the arts, innovation, cross-cultural dialogue, and sustainability. He has visited 35 countries and 73 out of the 77 districts of Nepal as part of his work and professional activities.
Basu Gautam is also a professional trainer on topics such as innovation and creativity in education, the impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on developing nations, climate change and the green economy, cultural diplomacy, emotional intelligence, and communication skills. He also contributes columns to Nepalese publications such as Annapurna Post, The Kathmandu Post, Annapurna Express, and Republica, The Rising Nepal, Naya Patrika as well as various online blog portals. Since 2019, Gautam has also led the 1 Million Trees Plantation Drive Campaign in Nepal, which engages communities in climate change adaptation and environmental awareness.
Gautam has received the "Youth Inspiration Award 2018" from the Global Youth Parliament, the "Humanitarian Award" from the United Peace Keepers Federal Council in Thailand, and the "Icon Award" from the Global Law Thinkers Society in Bangladesh.
Basu Gautam is married with a daughter and has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Strayer University in the United States.
