I like many different art expressions along with photography, you could call me eclectic. I live in the beautiful state of Colorado but appreciate beauty from all over. I was an Air Force photographer and later became degreed in photography & cinema. After 13 years professional career I burned out. During my career I had taught photography and enjoy sharing ideas of improving the image. With the Internet this has made it so easy for sharing and a whole new field. I am still exploring these medias and learning every day, the satisfaction this provides is amazing.

I have a renewed interest in photography after 30 years. My hero’s are Ansel Adams and Edward Weston. I like original images best and appreciate the delicate capture of light, form and textures. I consider viewing the “worship of the image” prior to capture the most important aspect of quality photography. My favorite subjects are considered un-manipulated shots that present far more then the obvious subject matter. I am no artist by hand (having taken many art classes) but find photography the best way to capture and express what I see. I love viewing others art and look for original quality images.

My motto is… “Worship your imagine in the view finder in order to capture best what has caught your eye.”

I invite anyone of my friends who will be in the Denver metro area to look me up and maybe we can spend the day doing photography together. Maybe we can think of it as training session, I can take you to some of the most beautiful areas of Colorado just and hour or two away.

Keep shooting and sharing ...

Gary

Wow, what a person, what a friend, what a teacher, what a photographer he is. When you have been meaning to write a few words about a person for so long it is hard to put down the essence of kindness in just a short tale of admiration. When you see Gary’s shots, you see the real life of kindness and love through his eye’s. The eye of his heart, mind, soul and lense. In his words…his “mind’s eye”. If you want to learn, he’s there. If you need a friend, you just might find one here. He inspires to never give up and to tell the story of yourself through a glimmer of beauty that you might see. I find that Gary can read photos all to well. Sometimes it’s scary that he knows exactly what my shots mean to me. Photography is from the heart. You can tell if a person loves what they are doing and sharing. Gary shines through his experiences to reach out and touch those who want to grow and become. Truthful and meaningful comments he gives, suggestions and joy he spreads. It is such a pleasure to know you. I am so glad we became flickr friends. You have touched my heart as you have so many others. A good person and an inspiration. Who could ask for anything more? Hugs and Blessings my friend, Andrea

Gary... I wish I could find the right words to express my gratitude in what you are giving back to artists and photographers. Paying it forward, as I hope we all intend to pay it forward when it comes our time. Your endless enthusiasm is motivating and inspiring. I'll keep shooting if you'll keep sharing!!

The quality & range of Gary's photos are matched by his generosity in support of other photographers, no matter where in the world they are, or what their style is. I've had many helpful & encouraging words from Gary & they've made me look at my photos with a different eye, to see what might be changed or improved either in post-processing, or 'out in the field' next time. His words are, of course, backed up by his collection of photographs that run across many styles & subjects, but always with their own 'thousand words' that can tell a story, or illustrate a technique. I like the way his expertise never gets in the way of his enthusiasm for photography itself, be it his own work, or his active encouragement of others. If it could be guaranteed that all teachers had his views on "shooting & sharing", I might even look into photography classes some day... If not, then I look forward to many more words & pictures from him. ~ better than any dull textbook!

Gary has been a true friend and mentor to me as I am still a beginner and learning the craft of photography. He has a great deal of experience and understanding of photography and has shared a lot of it with me and others here in Flickr. I have learned a lot about composition, editing, and trying to really see what a photo is all about. He has a great understanding of what works both technically and artistically. He has suggested "assignments" to experiment with different editing and cropping, suggested new ways of looking at my photos to make them better -and it definitely has helped me improve! Thank you Gary for all your input and encouragement! I am trying to find my "mind's eye" as you said. Your tag line "keep shooting and sharing" personifies what is so great about flickr- making friends, shooting and sharing with others and meeting some really nice folks like you along the way.
