I've always been interested in photography since I was a kid. At the time, it wasn't so much about taking pictures as it was the equipment used to take them. The variety seemed endless: point and shoot, polaroid, large format, instamatic, etc. Then there was the burn-your-fingers flash bulbs that you licked the contacts before using them and they actually made a popping sound when used.

 

Then as I started using the equipment, I started to read more and learn more about what the various numbers and settings meant.

 

I remember my first time waking up at night and going outside under the protection of the garage and experimenting with the bulb setting on the camera to capture a bolt of lightning. Taking the film cartridge to Kmart to have them develop. Then to have to wait a couple days to see if out of 24/36 exposures I wasted if I managed to capture any lightning bolts. I had more than one image, and from then on, I'd say I was hooked with photography.

 

I'm not the type yet that carries it around my neck 24/7 so my shootings are planned and anticipated. For those 'wish I had my camera with me now' moments, I can always use my phone camera.
