Garrey was one of my first contacts here on flickr. I remember admiring his photos and following his helpful critiques. In the years I’ve known him, that hasn’t changed. I still ogle his photos and enjoy his critiques. If you know Garrey, you’ll know that he is generous, knowledgeable, and diplomatic, and that he has a great, funny sense of humor. He admins several major groups and is always willing to offer help, provide critiques, share notes from seminars he attends, and post links, tutorials, and news he comes across. One thing you will notice when you visit Garrey’s stream is that he is not afraid to do something different and try new things. In fact he embraces new directions, be it photo manipulation, Fractalius art, microscope photography, IR, digital paint and sketch work, or, his most recent conquest, wedding photography. Go look at his amazing stream. Thank you Garrey for your friendship.

Yoda's in the house!! Okay, it's kind of run-down, with no windows and the roof is about 2.5 feet high and it rains a lot on Dagobah, but you see where I'm going with this. I've known Garrey for a few years now and his work continues to ebb and flow with experimentation and uniqueness. Everytime I visit his photostream, I'm in awe of the various styles he tries (and succeeds with). He isn't afraid to try new things, experiment with new techniques, or try a different style of photography. He's always open-minded about it and never hesitates to give tutorials on how he achieves his results. Through the past few years, I've appreciated his critical eye and feedback. I always make sure to take note of any recommendations he has -- nothing gets past him. If it doesn't work, he says it like it is and I always appreciate that kind of honesty. He is Yoda, after all. Thank you Garrey for the inspiration and the critiques!

I'm impressed with how Garrey has grown in the field of photography, not that he was at all bad when I first met him a few years back. On the contrary, his photos were definitely above any so called average. Now he's IMO well on his way to becoming a master of light. The way Garrey works with light and shadows truly enhances the mood and expression of his or any photos. Garrey is also very open to new ideas and new forms, constantly trying out new techniques for editing photos and some of them turn out amazing. I often think of testing out some of the methods he uses but I must admit that I haven't done much of that yet. At the moment Garrey is leaving me in the dust. I hope some day I can change that :) With his open minded attitude and eagerness to experiment he's a great inspiration to many of us, pushing us too to excel. I'm proud to have Garrey as one of my Contacts on Flickr. He's a real good friend.

Garrey is an interesting man. He is scientifically oriented with a mathematical bent; not normally considered a good start for artistic talent. Well, he is the exception that very much proves the rule; his talent is immense and wide ranging. Garrey and I "met" in the Photography Critique Group and have been Flicker friends ever since. I hope one day to meet both he and his (also very talented) wife in person. Garrey loves to teach. His tutorials and tips group is an example. He is always trying new techniques and equipment. As you peruse his photostream you will see more than a few signs of the enormous talent. You will also see many a trial and experiment - he likes to learn and does so voraciously. We share admin duties in a number of groups and Garrey has always been a level headed consensus builder well liked by all the admins and mods. Garrey is very approachable. Do not hesitate to interact with him. You will thereby be enriched.

I first met Garrey at our local camera club. He was doing very well at the monthly competitions and I tried to learn as much as I could from him about the process of entering and what types of images scored well. He has been a true friend from the first day I met him. We often go on field trips with Tim (Bowtoo) and we always have a great time and get some great shots. Garrey was an early adopter of HDR and encouraged me to try it as well. He has mastered the art of HDR. His creative skills are amazing, he is always trying new techniques and gets stellar results. We have a friendly rivalry at the club, we are both very competitive and it drives our photography to higher levels. I am sure we will remain good friends, despite the fact he shoots with a Canon... ;-)

I stumbled across an image he had taken ( www.flickr.com/ph... ) and was just blown away. Turns out he's a very accessible, knowledgeable guy who has a great eye, takes great photos and is always pushing the boundaries to learn something new. He also turned me on the PCA group (as a result of the same photo, in fact) which has been a great way to learn and keeps me taking pictures. His comments and encouragement have been invaluable.
