Name: Leigh Garner

What is your photographic experience and your current level of expertise? Had some sort of point & shoot most of my adult life but took little interest beyond pointing & shooting! Moved to an entry level DSLR in 2008 and joined the newly formed Great Notley Photography Club. My eye and technical ability have developed considerably since then (hopefully as evidenced by my photostream) and I continue to learn at every opportunity.

What are your photographic ambitions/goals? To continue to develop my creativity (composition etc.) as well as my technical photographic and processing skills. This is all for my own satisfaction but also hopefully others will enjoy my images.

What are your specific photographic areas of interest? I often use the term "natural light photography", but this can be narrowed further to Landscape and travel photography. I do appreciate other genres of photography but I get the most satisfaction from taking photos outdoors in the landscape or when travelling.

What areas are you knowledgeable (printing, composition etc.) I have a fairly good understanding of exposure and for Landscapes will often shoot in Manual. Have used Lightroom since around 2010 and am very familiar with the Library and Develop modules.

What photographic equipment do you use?

So my 'big camera' journey has taken me from my first DSLR in 2008, a Sony A350 to a Sony Alpha a77 in around 2011. (This you could say was the precursor to all the mirrorless models today, with its 'semi-transparent fixed mirror', which you can read more about here Sony SLT.) In 2015 I decided to move to full-frame and at the same time switch systems to Nikon, with the purchase of a D750. In late 2019 this took a swim in Derwent Water, see Goodbye D750, and was replaced with a Nikon Z7
