47 year old who previously worked within the international oil and gas service industry who now spends far too much time fishing when I should be out taking photo's.

My wife is a very understanding photographic widow and my daughter just can't understand why her Dad wants to encourage her to start using a camera when so many more interesting toys exist in her room that require so much of her time.

I am interested by photographs of just about anything but black and white is still a love I just can not shake off, I have embraced digital and don't care if people tell me that film is so much better, the word is progress.

I use a Canon 40D as my poor old faithful 300D was in need of a rest and technology had simply raced ahead again, although it has been surpassed with newer models, I still like it a lot although it's not getting as much use as I would like but when we do get out together, I'm like a teenage boy with a box of kleenex. I have also just replaced my Ixus with the more creative G12 which I hope will be a better pocket solution for those missed chances.....

I have recently just brought my first studio lighting set up which will give me something new to get my teeth into, let the learning begin....
