sara's one of the reasons I love flickr as much as I do. she captures moments in time like no one I know, and consistently amazes with the presentation of those moments. everything you see is straight from the camera (as she says "I don't know how to use photoshop" ;) ), and holy god it's great stuff. her photostrea… Read more

Sara Jane Campbellova is one of my old-school bestest friends. She introduced me to flickr, for which I am extremely grateful. Without (hopefully) sounding maudlin or gushy or academic, I must say that I have learned so much more about Sara - her spirit, her focus, her attention - by seeing what she chooses to represent through the memory of a photo. Increasingly I'm thinking back to theory at school and what the languages of representation/mimesis/semiotics are all about. And then, then I see Sara's photos. So filled with light, love, warm skin, and a heat only someone who knows Sara can appreciate. Theories don't quite do it, in a human way at least. Thanks for the introduction to a beautiful community, Sara: I'm finding out things about you, the world, and about myself through the images created here.

Every morning before I delve into the land of web, I peruse my contact flickr photos. I always find myself lingering at gardenhoe's pad. There is something nearly serene and calm about her stream that draws me. Bubbly laughter, melting moments, quiet observances, peaceful landscapes ... I'm drawn to it all. She doesn't claim to know what she's doing with her camera - seems many artists are critical about their work that way. Her "not knowing" rivals those "in the know". I'm attracted to the spirit that rings through her shots. Beautiful, soul-reaching, earthy - gardenhoe.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sara recently and she is every bit of kind, warm, and beautiful as her photos present. Her stream reflects her life...her kids, her emotions, and her growing skills as a photographer. Thank you for sharing your everyday with us, dear!

More and more often I find myself gravitating to Sara's photostream. She has a knack for finding beauty and meaning in things that others might not. Even her everyday photos, taken on the go, are often suffused with a quiet intensity that is difficult to articulate, but very compelling. Her more composed pictures have a quiet dignity and grace I find incredibly moving. I look forward to coming by every day.

I am absolutely floored to have the great honor of writing the first of many testimonials for gardenhoe, and shocked I haven't popped on long, long before this to offer a few kind words about one of my hands-down favorite people on Flickr. I love love love love love my daily trips to gardenhoe's stream. She has two absolutely charming and marvelous kidlets, The Bean and The Bug, and she takes tremendous photos of them... by turns touching, beautiful, and flat-out slap-your-knee hilarious. She has helped build the foundation of what I thrills me about Flickr and what the experience means to me; I look forward to each slice of her life that she shares with us, and I love that I've been let into her beautiful, warm, wonderful world. ...She also has exceptional taste in music. She has been known to use Pavement lyrics as photo titles, and she makes a killer mix tape. When I'm yammering to my husband about my Flickr friends, he'll interrupt me to ask (as he can never keep the lot of them straight), "Which one is gardenhoe again? ...Is she the cool one?" To which I always respond, "Yes." :o)
