I started my photo adventure in 2007 with point and shoot Sony Handy Cam along with a class in photoshop. My love of photography grew over the years even when I had to put it on the back burner for family. In 2009 I expanded to my first DSLR a Nikon D90. I love that camera and it was a great way to learn without being overwhelmed. I kept taking photography classes and pushing my limits. My interests are constantly changing. Last year my best friend and I decided we needed to get out of the daily rut and give ourselve a photography challenge. One photo a week of anything that makes us happy. That gave new life to my love of photography and it was just the shot my creativity needed. Last month I upgraded to a Nikon D800 and the possibilities with that camera are endless. I can't wait to see where I go from there. Till then, enjoy a photo a week. Take time to look, listen and admire everything life has to offer one click at a time.
2019
I realized I have not updated my profile in awhile. My love with photography continues. I'm always trying new techniques and exploring. In 2018 I decided to take my love of the Milky Way landscapes to a new level. With my travel limited some, I looked at ways to explore my curiosities and have the ability to explore from my back yard. This may sound odd, but I realize if I just looked up there is a whole new world to photograph. Astrophotography has taken over my life in a good way. There is so much out there to photograph. The images change with the season. It is almost like a sport, you have to plan, pray for good weather. The tinker side takes over as you build the perfect for you telescope rig. I started simple, and expanded to a fully automated remote set up. One winter outside was enough for me. I can now set up a telescope with camera and all the necessary parts in my back yard, within city limit and sit in the comfort of my home and take photos. Astrophotography is not like regular photos where I take a few, and move and take a few more. Then go home and process for an hour and done. Astrophotography has to be planned with patience and careful organization. It is kind of crazy that I can take photos of a single object for a month or more before I start to process it to share. Don't worry I still get out in the world and will continue follow my camera. Thank you for looking at my photo stream, and never place limits on your curiosity. You may just need a bigger lens. :)

I met Amy in my hometown of Aiken South Carolina at Chris Camera Center. I was holding a HDR (High Dynamic Range) class and Amy was a student. In every class I have taught, there is one to two students who required little or no class instruction, Amy was it. Amy was so knowledgable of her camera and the software we used to post process HDR images. Amy shared awesome ideas to the instructors and fellow students. Amy has organized student field trips shooting the Milky Way, some of her Milky Way shot hit Explore here in Flickr. I am so proud and honored to call Amy a friend and fellow photographer. Amy's work is out of the box awesome. Her capture and artistic post processing sets her images apart from the rest. Thank you Amy for your friendship and help as we find that awesome shot out there somewhere.

The first photo I saw of Amy’s was taken at night. It was the store front of a local candy shop. The interior detail was amazing and it was clear she was serious about her craft. Since seeing that first image Amy has added many photographs to her portfolio that have made me go back and rethink a photo of mine. Whether she is taking a landscape, an interior, a still life, the night sky, or a portrait, she takes the time to become familiar with her subject, looking at every detail. I have been fortunate to be on a few group photo shoots with Amy. We all have our tripods setup with cameras pointed at the same thing. Then I will look over at Amy and she has found something new and unique in the scene that the rest of us missed. Amy is a perpetual student of photography and each new image seems to build on something learned from an earlier photograph. She is a mentor and teacher generously sharing her knowledge. Amy has set up group photo shoots sharing locations and opportunities other photographers might keep to themselves. I look forward to seeing her images, each another opportunity to be inspired.
