Galt Museum at night by Galt Museum & Archives

The Galt Museum & Archives in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada plays a vital role in preserving and interpreting the material culture of Lethbridge and Southwestern Alberta.

The Galt is well respected in Alberta's museum community, has a growing national profile and is committed to international museum standards, and is becoming established as a vibrant gathering place that meets historical, cultural and educational needs.

The history of Lethbridge and southwestern Alberta can be explored in our award-winning temporary and permanent exhibits, special events and school and weekend programs. The Galt Museum Store offers visitors a selection of historic publications and other unique local products.

In 2008, 244 volunteers donated 8,075 hours of time and talents to enhance the work of full-time and part-time staff. Together, we welcomed more than 44,400 visitors.

Our Archives and Collections contain extensive holdings. Today, we care for a growing collection of well over 20,000 artifacts and 300,000 archival documents and photographs, many of which we feature online: www.galtmuseum.com/archives.htm

We are pleased to soon unveil our Archival photos on flickr The Commons: www.flickr.com/commons
