This testimonial for my friend, Gagah, is well overdue. I first became familiar with him because of the surreal, stream-of-consciousness poetry of his comments. He has an unbelievable knowledge of art history and always seemed to find the appropriate reference when commenting on my work. And, as mentioned in other testimonials here, his command of English puts us native speakers to shame. His photography is as graceful, surprising, playful, and poignant as his language. The continuing essay he has made of his young nieces and nephews is one of the great achievements on flickr and fotolog. I hope to meet Gagah in person someday. Gagah awakens all that is noblest and most pure in me, fills me with longing to see everyone happy and alive and untouched by the heaviness of the world...
