Active amateur radio enthusiast since the mid 1950s. Licenced as G3PHO in 1961. From 1970 to the present I have been mainly interested in the microwave bands, above 1GHz, but recent years have seen me return to my HF DX and contesting roots.

In 2007 and 2008 I was part of the Sheffield Amateur Radio Club IOTA Dxpedition to the Isle of Arran using the callsigns MM3 and GS3RCM/P. I did my own Dxpedition in March 2011 to the British Virgin Islands where I operated as VP2V/G3PHO.
