Life long searcher and ner-do-well who gave up and became an artist (starving anyway). I am 54 years old living in houston texas with my wife and teenager who has inherited both of our most bizarre traits. The apple falls, we pray it rolls a bit. I have painted for the theater and Opera before painting for myself. I watch entirely too much TV but maintain few other remarkable vices. I hate my father, still but love my cats. I can be obsesive which I counter with gregariousness and the occasional foul mood. I try to take my meds regulary and with complete enthusiasm. I have been known to have conversations with inanimate objects. thank you.......
Painters Statement:
Where I grew up the Pollution in the air caused the screens on the windows to dissolve every few months and paint on the south side of the house peeled in a year. Religious fervor filled the weekends and every week was the fourth of July. What went on inside....was worse! At night the blast Furnaces lit the sky like Vesuvius with flashes and horrendous cacophony. It was the sound of industry and the smell of money. We were Channel Rats, a GI Bill loan away from the trailer park, in highly rated schools with backwardly leaning lives. The fifties were meant to last forever where I lived and the darkest skin encountered was only at the end of summer at the overly chlorinated pool. Drama was the high school class film running on reels, flickering B& W, warning of Venereal Disease by car radios and spinning clock dials and whispered words of mysterious pimples in the nether regions...... (and we worried then!) . There were no longer bomb drills under school desks because there was no longer a point! Ground Zero was only 3 miles from our classroom at the ship channel turning basin....In mediocrity, boredom, fear, confusion, and religious promise I awaited the Armageddon.....and waited....and waited.
