Photography provides a unique blend of art and science. It enables us to document and share our lives and events with others. It encompasses the mundane and the extraordinary, the microscopic and the macroscopic. Above all photography as far as I am concerned, is about fun and that illusive perfect image.

I started out using an Canon 620 35mm SLR and have migrated to digital photography using a Canon 350D. I now mainly use a Canon 40D and an Olympus XZ-1 Compact Camera

I have recently brought a Canon 75-300 Zoom 1:4-5.6 III USM lens which although quite slow I have used it to photograph wild life, aircraft and people.

I now aslo have a Canon Macro lens, which I am learning how to use.

I have recently become the owner of a Canon 5d Mk 3

I use Adobe Lightroom CCand Photoshop CC to process the images. Subjects that interest me include travel, sailing, nature, cities, family and friends.

I share low-resolution images using the Flickr web sites and photobox for printing

I am interested in the interaction between technology and society. The concept of open and accountable government. The practical application of the Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Regulations. I work in the controversial field of radiation protection policy. Mobile phones, disposal of radioactive waste, the precautionary principle, risk communication. The ethical and social dimensions of policy making in these areas.

I was awarded a Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society in January 2013
