Amateur photographer that likes to travel. Flickr is my main social media, but I'm not very good about commenting on other people's photos. I'll try to get better about that. ...but please do comment on mine. I'd like to hear from the professionals about things I should do to improve my photos.
FOLLOWERS / FOLLOWING: I know that I have more followers than people I follow. I promise that I'm not one of those people that follow to get more followers and then unfollow.
-- I tend to follow people that post photos that are family-friendly (I'm a Christian and a father. ...and let's face it, if I were on the computer for porn, there are other sites for that -- I don't want to see it on Flickr).
-- I tend to unfollow people that haven't posted stuff in a while (figuring that they just don't do Flickr anymore). If you come back on Flickr and notice that I unfollowed you, sent me a message and I'll re-follow.
-- I tend not to follow people that post multiple version of the same picture. I have a short attention span and it's more interesting when photographers pick their best one (or two or three) and post. 50 shots of the same singer within the same 3 minutes just isn't interesting.
-- I tend to follow people that are better photographers than me so that I can learn and get ideas. So if I followed you, congratulations! I don't know what Ansel Adams would think of your photos, but I must think they are pretty great!
ARSENAL:
Canon Powershot G7x Mark III (This the one I travel with.).
Canon 90D.
Drone: DJI Air 2s
iPhone 11 Pro: No Flickr-worthy photos yet, but I can't believe how good cell phone cameras are getting.
RETIRED ARSENAL:
Mavic Mini 2 Drone (semi-retired) -- I've gotten two "Explored" photos with it. It's a great little drone, but the photos can't touch the ones I get from the Air 2s.
A Canon AE-1: My father gave me that camera when I was off to a school year in Spain back in the early 90's. He taught me the basics of ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and things like that with that camera. It's in a closet somewhere because it's quickly becoming a collector's item that I could give my kids so I don't have the heart to get rid of it.
A Canon Digital Rebel: I think it may be in a closet waiting for one of my girls to take interest in taking photos with something other than a cell phone.
A Canon T2i: It was a good camera.
Canon Rebel T5i -- It's the camera that caused me to stop needing/wanting a separate video camera, although the autofocus is subpar compared to a dedicated video camera. It's a 7-year-old camera now so I'm thinking of upgrading to a pro camera for real estate work. Also, I'd like something that shoots 4k. Any suggestions?
Canon G9x Mark II -- They say that the best camera is the one that's with you. I've gotten to where I don't like to take my big camera on trips anymore (especially since I refuse to check luggage so I need the space) so this is the one that has gone on my last 3 trips to Europe. A bunch of my "Explored" photos have been taken with this cameras. It doesn't touch the photos from my Rebel... BUT this cameras goes with me when I don't feel like lugging around the SLR.
