UPDATE: After dappling in this little hobby for quite some time, I have finally come to realize that I will never match the beautiful quality of photos that a lot of my peers are putting here on Flickr. Does this mean that I intend to just quit and throw the old camera in the closet to collect dust ? No, not really, as I have also finally admitted to myself that I am in this for my own satisfaction and not to impress someone else. It doesn't matter how many views or likes a shot gets, or if it makes it to explore, but what really matters is the question "Do I like It ?". If I wanted to make Explore everyday, I would simply go buy some Legos, put them on a table and pop out the handy I-Phone. What you will see from me from now on, is a lot more "Snapshot" photography, along with the occasional masterpiece. So hold on Flickr, here we go !
So, How did we get here ?
Just an old man, originally from LA ( Lower Alabama ) dabbling in general photography but specializing in wildlife ,landscape, nature, and tourism. However, I’ve been known to photograph anything that interest me weather it moves or not as you can probably tell from my photostream.
It feels like it was just yesterday, at age 6, that I received my first old Imperial box film camera by selling vegetable seeds door to door. That was way back in 1958 and I’ve been at this since way back then. (Photography that is, I retired at age 6 from selling seeds door to door!). Sometimes as I go back and look at some of my early film shots, I feel kind of like Forest Gump Traveling through history, living in the deep south. Photography has always been an on and off hobby for me, as I was never good enough to make a living at it. About 18 years ago digital photography came to the masses and about the same time we had the opportunity to move to North Carolina. . We currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, near the beach and Great Smokey Mountains. We are fortunate enough to make many trips to photograph at both the mountains and the beach.
Hampered since age 35 with heart disease (I’m probably one of the few people that have had more heart attacks than Dwight Eisenhower), I finally received a heart transplant in 2008 and have since started living a normal life.
Currently shooting with the Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 80D, and a variety of canon “L” lenses. The main one on my wish list that I do not have is the 600 mm, and as soon as someone sends me $12,000 I will be adding that one.
