"Photojournalism is what we leave for future generations about what we do today. I have no agenda as a photojournalist. And what stories I report on depend very much on the opportunity to do so and whether I have the time....".
I picked up a camera at age 9 and thus began my journey as a photographer. I graduated as a graphic designer/photographer from the University of the Arts, at London's Central St. Martins and embarked on a career that brought me to many new cities and countries and introduced me to an amazing assortment of interesting people. Fashion Photography is not all I have ever done as a career. Having a passion for WildLife, People and Cultures, i was so glad to have moved back to my homeland in Sri Lanka four years ago. Having an interest in writing I got into journalism, I always wanted to do story telling through my photography and it was by chance that the world of journalism and media came looking for me.
Today I am a freelance selfpublished journalist representing the London based News Agency Demotix, in Sri Lanka, covering stories from a much wider perspective from the social and the political world to Fashion Sport & Travel as well.
Photography has become part of my identity and is such a vital part of me that it has become a part of my greater Self.
I am self-published and also have my very own wildlife article known as WILD-FUSION that circulates in Colombo's Latest lifestyle magazine "This That and the Other or TTO, which reports on conservation, wild life and tourism in and around SRI LANKA.
When it comes to photography I remain behind the camera, capturing the spirit of a scene locking in those precise moments that either makes or breaks the perfect image.
I welcome you to my world, a Colombo based photographer with over 15 years experience available for assignments worldwide!
Welcome to my world as I see it.
Enjoy!

Trying to work on a photo journal/photo publication to capture relief aid work in Sri Lanka to make public awareness globally. Since the dawning of peace upon this nation of SRI LANKA, I wish to travel around reaching out to the people and children of our Island to help in what ever way possible and use my photography to make awareness to the nations out there to reach out and help.

Angelo's account is a set of hundreds of amazing shots, about kind of every places and subjects! I am honored to be in his contact list.
Angelo's photostream displays an amazing array of photographs from many wonderful places. I don't think I've seen many photographers with an eye like his--his vision is obviously unique and artistic, and his method of capturing the moment portrays this quite well. I will enjoy seeing more of your photos, Angelo! Ta… Read more

Angelo Samarawickrema, a man passionate about God, nature, people, animals, music and many other things i wouldnt even know of...hahahaha...God given talent you've got Angelo and am so glad that your making the best of it.. A true Angel of God would sum up the meaning of ur name as well i guess... I would firstly admire your parents and family that you grew up with all of whom produced such a wonderful human being and am so happy that i could also get a glimpse of the world which i have never properly seen, through your eyes... i just absolutely love the style of your photography with the brilliance of the colours in it, but what i loved most of all about your pictures were the ones which reviewed people which truly enabled me to realize the poverty in our country and it filled me with compassion..kudos to you Angelo, absolutely fantastic photography and i loved it..
Read lessI think Angelo really loves the nature. Most of his captures show landscapes, flowers or animals. And all the the captures are well composed. I like viewing his photostream... ;-) Best Regards
