i just got a medium format camera!!! i am so thrilled. a Bronica SQ-B. when i post those, Flickr will still announce that the image was taken with a Nikon D7000, but that is only because i am using my D7000 to take a picture of the film with my Sigma 105 macro lens.

caught the photography bug around age 13. started with a hand-me-down from my grandfather, a Konica Auto S rangefinder, then not long after a Konica T3. in college and for a long time after i shot with a Nikon F3HP. in 2009 i finally switched to digital with my Nikon D3000. (more recently, i've bumped up to something bigger.)

my digital darkroom is Bibble5 running in Ubuntu (Linux).

i'm still trying to find my style or genre in photography, though i'll be ok if i never find it. i am sure my work is influenced from having taken four years of visual art, being the son of an artist, and having been a lighting designer and lighting tech for theatre for the first decade of my adult life.

thanks for looking.

....some more thoughts now that i have been active for a bit in Flickr.

HDR. for me HDR is like perfume or cologne. i don't use it, not even to impress some cute bear. but if i did, i wouldn't pour the whole bottle all over myself. a little bit goes a long way.

Sets/Collections. i haven't done alot with this, and i need to. when i joined Flickr i used it as a place to show off the kids and other snapshots. my artsy photographs were at frenetic community called PhotoSIG dot com. now snapshots of the kids and pets and such land on Facebook. i've put all my artsy images into the set called "Visual Synecdoche", which is essentially my Photostream minus old stuff.
