First established in 1952 in the College of Social Welfare, the program known today as the College of Criminology & Criminal Justice is the oldest of its kind in the nation; the first to offer a doctoral degree in criminology; and, 60 years after its founding, still boasts the nation's number-one ranked criminology faculty.

The College of Criminology and Criminal Justice offers degree programs at the doctoral, master's and bachelor's levels for students interested in studying the power of law in a free democracy; why and how laws are broken; and the seemingly immeasurable consequences that follow.

With the renovation of historic Eppes Hall, Criminology's faculty, students and nearly 20,000 alumni will finally have a place on campus they can be proud to call home. Once completed, the renovated building will house faculty, graduate students, the Mary Harris Student Services Office, the internship office, classrooms, the Czajkoski Reading Room and the Center for Criminology & Public Policy.
