My photography related indirectly with the journey that I am going through in life by freezing the moments through my lens. Travelling photography has always been my passion as well as portrait.

It was 1999 when I first met Azlan. We were then working in the same construction site. We clicked so well that we have been maintaining our friendship eversince then.. we share the same jokes, interests and we both share the same profession. As an architect Azlan has travelled most parts of the world. He has tremendous knowledge about places.. and he recorded all his journeys by taking his camera with him. When he asked me to check his photostream in Flickr in 2008 I was extremely impressed by all of the pictures taken by him.. They are very beautiful and amazing captures with different and interesting stories to tell.. It is vey much like flipping a friend's journal with pictures. He is both a great photographer and a storyteller. Azlan is the almost perfect friend for me..(nobody's perfect!!). He is very understanding, funny, warm, generous and knowledgable.. You cannot ask for anything more from a friend. In many ways Azlan has encouraged and inspired me to restart my photography hobby after I left college and I cant thank him enough for that. Thank you for being a friend, Azlan.. **all of sudden Golden Girls theme is in the background..lol!**

I landed on Azlan's photostream accidentally while browsing on Flickr last night. I was instantly impressed with the shots he has taken in Syria. Before I realised it, I had spent about 3 hours on his photostream browsing through each of his albums. His street photography is just amazing. Sitting in one corner of the world I could feel the emotions and experiences of these people and places. I loved the street shots, candid people on the streets and especially the food descriptions. Each photo has some information about the place/person that helped in knowing more about that moment. Thanks a lot for sharing your experiences. I hope you travel far and wide and share such experience with all of us.

It was accidental that I came across Azlan's photostream circa 2007. It was a ho hum day in the stock markets and I decided to google photos of Pakistan. I came across Flickr for the first time and finally decided to view Azlan's photos. Honestly as I was not personally into photography I expected this to be a quick review of photos and then never to return to Flickr again....one of those filler moments. But it was not to be. Instead Azlan's photos reconnected me with Pakistan. His shots simply drew me in. His shots were and continue to be colorful, fascinating, instructive and have a story to tell. Ever since that accidental moment away from the stock markets I have been captivated and mesmerized. A delightful feast for my eyes. Azlan also humoured me as while I finally began to comment on his photos I myself had not posted one...and it would be a good long year before I would ! Such is the journey that he has taken me on and rekindled in me the joy of photography ! I consider myself lucky to be able to view his photos. He is truly a wonderful person.

I met Azlan at Karachi Airport, and for sure that meeting was planned :-) It was our first meeting but I already knew him from his friendly calls and visits to my stream. He truly is an inspiration to me in terms of everything, career and hobby. I used to avoid travelling by not having a companion with me but Azlan taught me to travel alone, that would always be the best :-) and for sure it is now. We really have an age gap, but I have never felt it in his friendship, and I would love to meet him again and again, either Malaysia or Pakistan, or some other part of the world.

I opened up an account on flickr on the day that I came across Azlan's captures. His captures revealed the life from his eyes and each capture was unique and filled with a life and special emotions that words couldn't describe. I felt the warmth, but more so than that, I found the people's existence (as if they were moving before my eyes) in all of his captures. There's always a story to be told, and Azlan with his camera, was the author of such great stories that I could never get enough of. There are a lot of great photographers, and many are able to do wonders. I have a lot of respect for great photographers, not just one who can shoot great pictures, but one whose work captivates more than the eyes, but the heart and soul of viewers. Azlan is that photographer. -To Azlan: I can't thank you enough for your words of motivation and having faith in me when I didn't. Without your amazing work, mine wouldn't be here! Thanks for being such an awesome mentor and friend!

A generous soul who always shows his gratitude for a compliment you send his way and who is too happy to reciprocate, Azlan is the greatest of photographic tourist guides: you learn more about lands you had little previous knwowledge of and the joy he conveys in opening our eyes and hearts remains infectious.

He has shown a variety of photographs that give meanings to photographic art from self portraits to exotic sunsets and vibrent still lifes , the colours and warmth in the photographs leave you wanting more and knowing that what appears next.
