Since March 2002, Franklyn has been instrumental in championing youth interest in meetings involving international partners.

His leadership qualities, commended by the iEARN Director, have been evidenced through prominent participation in donor activities by such charities as Knowledge Aid and Computer Aid International as well as the propagation of ICT initiatives in several schools and communities in Sierra Leone through an all-out excellence in public speaking and outreach.

He helped to spearhead the first iEARN I.C.T.- based peace clubs in his own school, the Albert Academy Secondary School.

We visited Freetown recently to work on a digital citizenship project supported by Creative Partnerships, a funded subsidiary of Arts Council England. The project aimed to link schools in Hull (the birthplace of William Wilberforce) with schools and pupils in Freetown, through the media of film, photography and journalism. During our stay we also established links with Tom Walsh, director of the British Council in Freetown. For the duration of our stay Franklyn Koroma acted as our guide and mentor in Freetown. He proved himself to be an honest, dedicated and completely trustworthy individual and we are now not only working closely with him as ‘our man in Freetown’ but he has also become a firm friend. I know that he will benefit greatly from the ‘Voices for Change’ event and that he will do his utmost to use his experiences to bring benefit to the lives of others in Sierra Leone.
