Fred Is a seasoned designer in several areas. First a scenic and lighting designer for theatre. Then he took those skills and interests and applied them to special events designing cooperate meetings, charity galas, and client parties. Along with this design career he also pursued live audio reinforcement starting with theatre performances and then adding symphony and regional support for national acts. Along with his professional career, Fred also pursued his love for vegetation and topiary design. He increased his collection of tropical plant varieties, some of which are now 50 years old and developed his topiary gardens at his home in Manteo, NC, La Casa del Wacho.

Now at 72, he continues as audio engineer for the NC Symphony Orchestra and tending his gardens in Manteo with his talented costume and glass designer wife of 50 years, Joan.
