The chigoe flea or jigger (Tunga penetrans) is a parasitic arthropod found in tropical climates, especially South and Central America and the West Indies. At 1 mm long, the chigoe flea is the smallest known flea. Breeding female chigoes burrow into exposed skin and lay eggs, causing intense irritation. After this point, the skin lesion looks like a 5 to 10 mm white spot with a central black dot, which are the flea's exposed hind legs, respiratory spiracles and reproductive organs.
If the flea is left within the skin, infection and/or other dangerous complications may ensue.
The free-living flea is a poor jumper and can only reach a height of around 20 cm; therefore the use of closed shoes (as opposed to sandals or slippers) is an effective way of preventing infection.[1]
The parasitic flea lives in soil and sand, and feeds intermittently on warm-blooded hosts such as humans, cattle, sheep, dogs, mice, and other animals. In order to reproduce, the female flea burrows head-first into the hosts' skin, often leaving the caudal tip of its abdomen visible through an orifice in a skin lesion. This orifice allows the chigoe flea to breathe while feeding on blood vessels in the cutaneous and subcutaneous dermal layer. In the next two weeks, the flea releases about 100 eggs through the orifice, which fall to the ground. The flea then dies and is sloughed by the host's skin. Within the next three to four days, the eggs hatch and mature into adult fleas within three to four weeks.

I know John with his keen taste when it comes to his craft (those SOOC’s and macros). Photography makes him so unique, eagerly not to talk about his personal life or about his profession ‘cause I don’t know much about that. John,THANK YOU so much for the friendship, kindness, thoughtfulness. Sharing (tags) those most coveted photos and forever remembering your friends and that I am one of them. I call Sir Jigger the SOOC and MACRO master. SERIOUSLY. His photos are always beautiful! His sooc shots are insanely gorgeous that I can't help but be ashamed of myself because I edit too much. It only proves that a great photographer can deliver great photos without manipulations. Clearly, he sees more beauty in the world than most of us. His macros are to die for! He leads us into a magical place where our naked eyes fail to bring us. He leads us into this unknown yet unbelievably outstanding world of flowers and insects and more. Sir Jigger is honestly thoughtful, inspiring and really encouraging. He is funny too! He has become one of my favorite contacts here on Flickr. Plus, he is a Filipino therefore I can understand him better! Hahahaha! Maraming Salamat, sir. Keep inspiring a lot of people. :)

I would admit that Jiggz had been a contact but not too long ago. But I must also admit that I'd been seeing a lot of his work since then and I can't help but admire specially his macros. I believe that he has a great eye for photography and his photostream would speak of what I really mean. Versatile and passionate - yan si Jiggz if I would be allowed to describe him only in two words. Behind those lovely works, exchanging some notes with him has impressed me more. Down-to-earth and humble despite of what he has become (kung ano man yun) but most of all his wits and sense of humor are the things I'm sure are two of the many things that anybody can enjoy in his company. Who doesn't want to laugh anyway?

Because even though He didn't know me very well, the first time he saw my stream, he made me a testimonial that made me feel like he's already a close friend of mine. He is very sweet and attentive in his comments and I think a romantic one....specially to his "langga". You know who I am talking about..right Jigz?? Heheh! Keep on shooting those wonderful photos and I hope you won't change. Stay as sweet as you are my bro!

His work is always heartfelt, sincere, and funny. No matter what kind of day you have you can check in on Jigger and his photos and your heart is lifted. He comes up with such amazing photographs and then he gives them such a humorous (yet fitting) title!! I am so impressed by this, sometimes, photography is not all about "beauty" or "nature", it should be about life, no matter you are in the countryside or big city, "there are always something out there". I am very fortunate I have known Jigger...and his works!! Cheers!! X0X
