I'm actually sort of new at this photography thing. It was in early 2015 that I decided to get serious about my photography and started taking classes. I bought my first DSLR in October of 2015, and I haven't looked back. I feel like I've picked up a lot quickly, but really, I'm just beginning to learn how very complex photography really is.

Although I occasionally delve into all types, my major focus is on nature and macro photography. I use the Adobe Lightroom program to process all my pictures which are taken as RAW files. Recently, I have begun working with Photoshop type programs, learning about HDR and also about focus stacking for a better presentation of my macro work. I now consider myself a photography enthusiast.

I live on a 15 acre property near Falls Lake in Durham County, North Carolina with my wife Shirley. I plant, mow, and generally manage the property like a wildlife park. I maintain a variety of habitats and 'edge' that are beneficial to wildlife. I've built 3 ponds, I annually plant wildlife food plots and wildflower patches, and maintain photo blinds. To date I have tallied an impressive list of nearly 80 different species of birds, that I have seen on, or from the property. It's a great place to live, with the added bonus of providing great opportunities for photography right outside my back door.
